Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to St Mary and St John Church of England Primary School. Ours is a vibrant, inclusive, multi- cultural, two-form entry city school, in the heart of East Oxford, with around 415 children on roll. We hope this website gives you a feel of our school but please come and see for yourselves through a visit where I will welcome you, give you a tour and answer any questions (no tours at the moment due to Covid restrictions).

Our school is unusual as our reception children (aged 4 – 5 years) are educated for one year on Hertford Street in Comper Foundation School. Children move to our Meadow Lane site when they are in year 1 (aged 5 – 6 years).

We benefit from a spacious site in a wonderful location. There is an abundance of greenery all around and yet it is only a short walk into Oxford City with its many cultural resources which enrich our curriculum. Our school has had a lot of refurbishment over the last few years and we are delighted with the improvements to our learning environment, including a well stocked library in the heart of the school.

We have put together a video to give you a flavour of our school so please take a look and I hope to show you round in person during the Spring 2021.

Best wishes,

Mrs Liz Burton
