Welcome to St Mary and St John Church of England Primary School. Ours is a vibrant, inclusive, multi- cultural, two-form entry city school, in the heart of East Oxford, with around 415 children on roll. We hope this website gives you a feel of our school but please come and see for yourselves through a visit where I will welcome you, give you a tour and answer any questions.
Our school is unusual as our reception children (aged 4 – 5 years) are educated for one year on Hertford Street in Comper Foundation School. Children move to our Meadow Lane site when they are in year 1 (aged 5 – 6 years).
We benefit from a spacious site in a wonderful location. There is an abundance of greenery all around and yet it is only a short walk into Oxford City with its many cultural resources which enrich our curriculum.
Our last inspection, March 2018, endorsed the education we offer. The following is taken from the inspection letter.
“Dear Mrs Burton, You have a clear vision and ambition for the school. You focus on ensuring that pupils achieve well and develop their personal skills in a safe environment. Staff share your vision and are working hard to achieve it. As a consequence, pupils are happy, enjoy their learning and feel safe and well cared for.”
We look forward to meeting you soon.
Mrs Liz Burton
