Dear St Mary & St John Parents and Carers,
It has been a wonderful first week at St Mary & St John, with classrooms filled with smiles, energy, and curiosity. A special welcome to all new families joining our community this year—we are delighted to have you with us. We have also enjoyed hearing updates from our former Year 6 pupils as they begin their secondary school journeys.
Newsletter Overview
Here’s what you’ll find in this edition (full details in the attached newsletter):
- Our School Vision & Values – Guided by “Let all that you do be done in love”, this term we are focusing on the value of LOVE, encouraging kindness, perseverance, and a growth mindset.
- Learning This Term – Each year group has launched new enquiry questions, from Reception’s “What makes people special?” to Year 6’s “How have world wars affected people’s lives?”
- Meet the Teachers – Information sessions will take place on Wednesday 10th September at 3:40pm and 4:15pm, with presentations also shared online for those unable to attend.
- Community Connections – We welcome contributions from parents and carers with expertise linked to our topics, enriching children’s learning with real-life experiences.
- New Staff & Updates – A warm welcome to our new teachers, teaching assistants, and office staff, and congratulations to Mrs Norris (formerly Miss Eliot) on her marriage this summer.
We have had some unexpected absence in the office team, so please bear with us over the next few weeks. We are deeply grateful to Ms Claremont, who very kindly stepped in on the first day of her retirement to help share the load with Mrs Norris and Ms Guedes!
We are excited for a year full of learning, growth, and community spirit, and we look forward to sharing this journey with you.
With best wishes,
Bex Stott and the St Mary & St John Team
