What is the School like?
We have almost 400 children in school, from Foundation Stage (to age 5), through Key Stage 1 (to age 7) and Key Stage 2 (to age 11).
Mary & John is a Church of England School (Voluntary Aided) with a distinctive Christian ethos and a very good relationship with St Mary and St John Church. A fully inclusive school, we welcome families from a range of faiths and worldviews. We are a multi-cultural school with multiple nationalities represented in schools and 28 different languages spoken! This diversity is a huge strength as it enriches our whole school.
Meadow Lane Site
The buildings at Meadow Lane were originally designed for older children, so we benefit from plenty of indoor and outdoor space. As well as classrooms and areas for shared working between classes, there is a library, a music room, a cookery room and a room for our breakfast and after school club.
Around the buildings the grounds extend to over an acre, taking in a big playing field (including a full-sized football pitch), gardens, large playground areas surrounded by trees, giving us space to learn and play. Next door to the school is a nature reserve which all classes use for outdoor learning.
The school has a fantastic position near to Oxford city centre which is short and attractive walk from the school. This enables pupils to enjoy the many opportunities that the city offers and helps to embed a very broad and balanced curriculum.
