Dear St Mary & St John Parents and Carers,
It has been a lively and inspiring couple of weeks, and the children have settled quickly into their learning. The energy and enthusiasm around school are wonderful to see.
Here are the key updates from this edition of the newsletter (attached):
Learning and Play
- Children are diving into their learning with great focus across all subjects.
- Break times are full of imaginative play and fun – why not share the games you loved at school with your child to add to our playground collection?
Upcoming Events
- Phonics Information Session – Monday 22nd September, 3:40pm in Willow Class.
- Online Safety Talk with Paul Hay – Wednesday 24th September, 9:00am or 6:00pm.
- Coffee & Chat – Every Thursday, 8:40–9:40am in the Small Hall.
- School Tours for Reception 2026 – Booking now open.
- Key Autumn Term Dates – Please see the newsletter for exhibitions, trips, parent consultations, assemblies, and fairs.
Community & Notices
- Website Refresh – New photos will appear soon for children with consent.
- New Partnership Plaque – Celebrating our collaboration with The Mulberry Bush to strengthen support for pupils.
- Coat Swap – Donate coats (17th–24th September) and collect on 25th–26th September. Let’s help keep every child warm this winter.
- PTA Updates – A new co-treasurer is needed; AGM on Monday 20th October at 7:30pm. Key dates include the Winter Fair (29th Nov), School Disco (30th Jan), and Summer Fair (3rd July).
Celebrations
- We wish a very Shana tova umetuka (“happy and sweet new year”) to all families celebrating Rosh HaShana next week.
For wellbeing, today’s Self-Care September tip is to notice what you are feeling without judgement – not always easy, but a wonderful practice to share with children.
