After-School Club

After School Club provides fun, relaxation and a friendly atmosphere for children who need to stay after school.
Coordinators and play workers look after the children, every day during term time. The scheme is open to all children who attend St Mary & St John and they can stay for any number of sessions during the week, although places need to be booked in advance.

After School Club Aims and Philosophy
The aim of After School Club is to provide good quality after-school care for children in a safe, caring and stimulating play environment.
The scheme is based on mutual respect between all people involved, and respect for PLUS property. PLUS play workers and children expect respect and courtesy to be shown by everyone to everyone, regardless of race, origin, language, religion and physical or mental ability.
Sessions in After School Club

The sessions run from 3.20 until 5.50 pm. The care is based around a designated space, equipped with arts and craft materials and lots of games, from Monopoly to pool. The children also have access to the playground and the field for football and other outdoor games, and in summer table-tennis tables are often brought out into the garden. Indoors, the children can also choose to play in the designated areas. They initiate their own activities and there is always a wide selection to choose from – all carefully supervised. At 4.30 pm the smell of toast in the air is very tempting!
We have capacity for up to 72 children each day. The sessions are led by a qualified coordinator and one permanent, trained play worker, plus additional assistants as necessary.
Charges
PLUS Base costs £12.00 per session.
The After School Club scheme is part of the activities of St Mary & St John CE Primary School and is run under the direction of the Headteacher and the school governors.
